What MaveradoSynona™ Is — and How It Is Held
Maverado is our name for the spirited land and paths that support your journey.
Synona™ is a living community shaped by people who choose to live guided by their inner knowing and supported by one another through honest, respectful reflection.
It is not a retreat, a belief system, or a place to be fixed.
It is a shared field for people who want to make the best use of the lifetime still unfolding.
At Synona, individuality is honored. No one is asked to conform, perform, or agree. Each person remains sovereign, guided by their own maverick center, while participating in a culture of values-based advancement.
How Synona Is Held
Synona is held through clear agreements rather than hierarchy.
The primary shared practice is Bounce™ — a simple, structured way of offering reflection that supports growth without control, persuasion, or pressure. Bounce™ allows people to help one another see more clearly while preserving choice, dignity, and agency.
There are no gurus here. No one speaks for another. No one is required to participate beyond their own consent.
The community is supported by Synona Companions™, individuals trained to steward conversations, answer questions, and help maintain the tone and agreements of the space. Their role is not authority, but clarity and care.
Synona is also held by the land of Maverado — through intentional paths, gathering spaces, silence, art, and natural rhythm — all designed to support listening, settling, and real conversation.
What You May Notice
People often say Synona feels different.
Conversation slows. Defensiveness softens. Listening deepens.
Over time, many notice greater steadiness, clearer decision-making, and a sense of being more at home in themselves — not because they were taught what to think, but because they were supported in listening to what they already know.
Synona exists to support that remembering — together, without sameness.
Why the word Maverick?
When the work that would become Maverick Center began in 1999, I did not name it. The people around me did.
They were living inside the conversations, the experiments, the uncomfortable honesty, and the relief of finally trusting their own knowing. They could feel something unusual was happening. It did not look like self help. It did not look like religion. It did not look like business as usual. One day they said, This is Maverick. Not rebel for the thrill of it. Not contrarian as a personality.
Maverick as in someone willing to listen inwardly and act from there, even when it places them a little sideways from the crowd.
They added Center because they experienced the work as returning them to a steady point inside themselves. A compass that resolved noise and clarified next steps. In their words, it helped them hear their own guidance system.
So the name stayed.
What it means to be a Maverick
A Maverick is simply someone who notices: • something feels off • something more honest is possible • their life might want to be lived from the inside out. They pause. They reflect. They choose from their own knowing. That can look different from what society rewards. Different can feel risky. It can also be the birthplace of a life that fits.
About the people who bristle at the word
Some hear Maverick and imagine arrogance or rule breaking for sport. That is not what lives here. Here, Maverick means responsibility for listening inwardly and living well with others. Inner authority with humility. Personal truth with relationship intact.
And about living by the script
Scripts are efficient. They tell us who to be, what to want, how to measure success. But if the script starts to feel tight, if curiosity grows louder than approval, you may be ready to experiment with listening inwardly.
That is the doorway to Maverick.
Do I Qualify as a Maverick
You might.
Not because you are dramatic. Not because you are rebellious. Not because you are certain.
You might qualify if something in you has begun to notice… the life you were handed and the life that feels true are not always the same, advice from others sometimes drowns out your own knowing, success without alignment can feel strangely empty, you want conversations that are more honest than impressive, part of you wonders if there is a calmer, clearer way to move forward. You do not need answers. You only need curiosity. If you are willing to pause, listen inwardly, and experiment with living from what you discover, you are already close. No audition. No spiritual résumé. No personality requirements. Just a growing interest in hearing yourself more clearly and living in a way that fits. If that is happening, welcome.
How Maverick Do I Have To Be To Arrive?
Less than you think.
You do not need a new identity. You do not need bravery on tap. You do not need to be certain about anything. You only need a flicker of willingness to listen to yourself a little more than you did yesterday. You can arrive confused. You can arrive careful. You can arrive curious. You can even arrive skeptical. Arriving is enough.
