What is a balanced life?

NEW LOGO.jpeg

We often talk about living a balanced and whole life, but what does this even mean? What are you trying to balance? What are the pieces that make you whole? The answers are different for everyone and what we want to do is bring those answers out for you first. Determining this is the first step that will lead you to balance and wholeness. We call these your life’s categories. Basically, what is important to you? What brings (or what do you want to bring) you happiness? Examples of the main categories include:

Marriage/Mate

Career/Business

Your first child

Your second child (It would be a mistake to group very different people together so list each individual that you have/will have separately, including none-blood members.)

Spirituality/ Religion

Difference making

Family

Friends

Art/Creativity

Anything that is important enough to you is a life category (an animal or project might be important enough to become a category). And you can always include categories that you don’t have-yet. Your goals and things you want are part of your life too.

Once you know what you’re trying to balance, you can begin to work towards wholeness. We will help you find out which areas you are lacking fulfillment in or having trouble managing. We will help you identify common underlying and overarching difficulties and fears you are having. We will drill down in a few of your weakest categories and start making positive changes. But inevitably, your new mindsets, knowledge and skills that you will gain will bleed/interweave into other areas and uplift your other categories and your life as a whole.

My favorite reason that I hear from many that work on getting 'more whole' and living whole lives is because it examples the HOW TO- to help friends, family, and particularly kids- get closer to their own wholeness. This is pass-it-forward 'work' that starts with self and emanates out.

How do I make the leap to pursue my passion in my career?

So, it's great that you've recognized that you want to change your life and start doing something you love. Whether you've been feeling stuck, bored and unhappy in a job or career for weeks or years- the temptation to move fast and make up for lost time is real. But slow down. And please don't quit your job- not yet. We specialize in transitions and the transformation of a life by finding balance. There is perhaps no quicker way to throw your life off balance than by leaping and quitting your job; because life and all of its realities don't stop during this new pursuit and it often takes longer to pull off than you want. Passion can fuel your drive toward your new entrepreneurial goal but it's not likely to pay the bills on your way there.

So the answer is that there is no leap.

Nowadays we are bombarded with messages and articles on social media of quitting full-time jobs to travel the world, giving up everything to be your own boss, leaving routine to build something from scratch. We idealize and romanticize the idea of taking a risk and reaping the benefits. Yet no one talks about the real sustainability or self-sufficiency of this, because it isn't sustainable or realistic.

An entrepreneur is often held synonymous to being a risk-taker. But in reality, entrepreneurs- successful ones- don't take more risks than anyone else. On the contrary, many are actually quite careful and good at planning.

So no quitting your stable job early. It could actually be counter-productive. Financial stress and constriction will only inhibit the creativity that you have that's vital to your new pursuit.

Instead, our wholeness mentors will work with you to custom build a stairway toward your goal (and help you find what that is)-and help you climb them at whatever pace is manageable and unique to you. And we do help you work toward your new entrepreneurial venture or livelihood, but of course your career is only one area of your life.

While we specialize in business services combined and career planning with some of our clients, we are above-all concerned with helping you live a balanced life. So we won't ignore and will heavily consider how this new pursuit will affect your children, your marriage, your friends, your ability and desire to make a difference, your financial situation, your overall life goals, etc. This is what makes us different from a business coach.

Don't panic when you think about how you think you've spent too much time not pursuing the life you want. Don't look back, but forward. Don't run, and most importantly don't try to leap into change, but call us to get started and glide forward much more strategically aligned to yourcanstockphoto14139711 big picture.

How do you know you are stuck and that you need to make change in your life?

This realization can- and often does- come on slowly in those we work with. One day you'll catch yourself just feeling bored. And you'll realize it's not just today, but for weeks, months, years- you've been bored. But being bored doesn't mean you're boring- just the opposite! It means you're too lively and spirited to ever do just one thing. Maybe you've been stuck in the routine of a job or a life that you had only meant to be temporary, but now it's been too long. Or maybe you followed your dream, started that rock band, made a living out of your passion. You know you could continue, only you realize you don't really want to...you're bored. You succeeded and did everything you could with it, you're done and ready to move on. It was your passion once, but it's been fulfilled. You don't need to feel stuck there. You can allow yourself to move on to and plan the next thing. Your next dream. Or as our method calls for- your next three dreams and livelihoods.

This realization can also happen another common way. It will also come on slowly. The universe, fate, or the higher power that you believe in will try to get your attention in many ways. Things in your life will start to shut down to make you notice, to send you a wake-up call. You look around and realize you've grown apart from your friends (the real ones), you're dreading getting up for work every morning, you get let go, you go through a divorce, you get sick because your body is shutting down too. Things aren't flowing anymore. All of this is sending the same message: you're not supposed to be where you are anymore, even if it was right once.

It's the nagging thoughts of, "This can't be all there is." And it isn't.

In the end, you know yourself. But we know the signs. We have helped many. We see you feeling like the woman in the infomercial fumbling with her Tupperware or fighting with her garden hose in black and white. Life is messy and hard to manage after all. We understand that! And we don't have a Magic as seen on TV product for $14.95. Our method is customized and personal to you and all the areas of your life. We'll help you balance it all while continuing to move forward.

You're too far from a boring person to be bored- it inhibits your creativity. You need to get inspired again and get help with a plan for tomorrow, next month, next year, and 10 years from now to move forward.
